A woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:30

What child does not long to be loved and accepted by its mother?  The virtuous or godly mother may or may not design her family’s wardrobe:  but she can clothe her children with garments of praise and protection. She may not abound in talents, but she handles her resources well.  Her wisdom flows not from degress or cleverness, but from a kind and gentle heart.

Throughout the Bible, God gives us examples of extraordinary women and their contributions as mothers, wives, friends, and ministry leaders.  Lydia, the businesswoman; Aquila, the tentmaker; Mary, the mother of Jesus-each one gave their lives to their families, to others, to the Lord.  They were all human, but each one qualified as a godly woman.

A godly woman, wife, and mother is not perfect in her performance,  but she is perfectly designed and accepted by God Himself.  And even when she fails in many of the practical areas of life, she is not a failure.  Her reward?  Proverbs 31:28 says, “Her children rise up and bless her, her husband also.”  However, her greatest joy comes from the Lord Himself, for ”a woman who fears the Lord . . . shall be praised” (Proverbs 31:30).
